The Town of The Pas is looking at safety in the downtown area to address the concurrences of citizens.

 

The Town recently hired a Community Safety Manager, a position they have been looking to fill.

 

Mike Conner is stepping into the role.

 

A local who has worked with the RCMP and the Military, he officially took over the position on April 10th.

 

Here, Conner shares some of the Town's plans to improve safety in the downtown area.

 

"Right now, we're in the process of setting all that up where people can call into a number, and we'll be actually walking most of the business downtown here and eventually giving their cards and stuff like that.  So if they need help or need any kind of assistance when they need, they'll give me a call and we'll show up there."

 

Conner mentioned that the program is still in its initial phase in the community.

 

They are looking for input from Thompson and other communities in the province that already have this safety program up and running.
