(Feb. 22, 2012)          Some drivers in this area are distracted.

The RCMP's Northern Traffic Unit has joined police forces across the province in a
distracted driving awareness and enforcement campaign in partnership with Manitoba
Public Insurance this month.

The Units Sergeant Eugene Yewchuk reports so far this month in the Flin Flon, The
Pas and Snow Lake areas they have found 8 cell phone infractions, 13 intersection
infractions, 20 seatbelt infractions, 1 disqualified driver and 25 other Highway
Traffic Act charges.

The campaign continues until the end of the month.
